Control boards

Control boards have several functions that are associated with proprietary Clampco Sistemi plug-in modules which are easy to replace without tools:

• electronic conversion from locally available mains to the aircraft warning light system operating voltage (requested AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC converter is installed inside the control board on a DIN rail)
• photoelectric switch management
• automatic main/stand-by bulb switchover (fault management)
• monitoring bulb status (test light management)
• generation of visual alarms: indication on front panel pilot lamp green/red (alarm management)
• remote transmission of alarms: voltage dry contacts available on screw terminal board (alarm management)
• easy checking procedure of the whole system by means of front panel switches and buttons accessible to the operator

The dimension of the control board depends on the aircraft warning light system configuration and the number of obstruction lights.

According to the installation environment control board electrical circuits are enclosed in a housing:

• IP 55 coated steel box
• IP 65 polyester box
• IP 65 stainless steel box

Front door can be supplied with transparent window or blind (recommended for outdoor installation).

The following special functions may be present if required:

• synchronisation of all the flashing obstruction lights in the system
• on-board or external Uninterruptible Power Supply

Overvoltage protection (surge) of incoming electric cables: adds a lightning arrester module for each wire connecting the obstruction lights to the control board, according to the nominal voltage of the obstruction lights. These modules are ‘plug-in’, easy to replace without tools: when faulty, a small window on the module turns to red. These devices are a secondary level protection to lightning, in case of overvoltage induced by the main lightning current in the nearby conductors.
